WHAT’S THE JOB?

As a Part-Time Cook in a prestigious local private school, you’ll work under the direction of the Executive Chef or Sous Chef supporting food service for two small boarding houses. You’ll help deliver consistent, high-quality meals and a welcoming dining experience for students—while keeping food safety, organization, and hospitality at the centre of everything you do.

This role is ideal for a chef who enjoys a smaller, relationship-driven service style and takes pride in cooking that supports students’ dietary needs and well-being.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY

Prepare, cook, and serve meals and daily specials (and support catered/special events as needed) following recipe standards.

Use a range of cooking methods (roasting, grilling, steaming, poaching, boiling, baking) to execute the menu with consistency and care.

Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation across all work areas and equipment.

Follow all Food Safe/Serve Safe, health & safety, and sanitation requirements—including temperature and food safety logs.

Support ordering, receiving, inventory and FIFO rotation to minimize waste and protect food costs.

Provide friendly, professional service and build positive relationships with students, staff, and school partners.

Assist the Executive Chef/Sous Chef with continuous improvement ideas, prep planning, and smooth daily execution.

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Food Safe and/or Serve Safe certification and a strong understanding of safe food handling and health regulations.

Experience with international cuisine and the ability to accommodate a variety of dietary needs.

Self-driven, dependable, and well-presented—comfortable working in a professional school setting.

Strong teamwork and communication skills with a genuine service mindset.

Valid driver’s license/clean driving record, and ability to pass a background check.
