Head Bartender

Position: Head Bartender - Nanoose Bay Cafe -
Location: North Central Island and Bute Inlet Region (Gold River)

Manager/ General Manager / Beverage Director

Position Summary

The Bar Lead is responsible for the day-to-day organization, cleanliness, service standards, and overall performance of the bar. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines bartending and guest service with team training, coaching, inventory, ordering, and accountability.

The Bar Lead works closely with the Moments Hospitality Collective Beverage Director and Nanoose Bay Cafe Management to maintain a consistent, organized, and high-quality beverage program.

Duties & Responsibilities

Bar Operations & Inventory

Bartend and provide excellent guest service while leading by example.

Ensure the bar is properly stocked, organized, and prepared for service.

Complete weekly beverage ordering and conduct monthly inventory counts.

Monitor product usage, waste, and stock levels and communicate concerns to management.

Maintain high standards for bar setup, organization, and overall presentation.

Assist the Beverage Director with cocktail creation, beverage development, at the time of menu launches.

MOD Opening & closing duties - daily cashouts, key holder, MOD support

Cleanliness & Standards

Establish and maintain consistent cleanliness standards behind the bar.

Ensure opening, closing, and weekly cleaning tasks are completed properly and consistently by all team members.

Inspect the bar regularly and address cleanliness or organizational issues as they arise.

Hold bar team members accountable for maintaining NBC's cleanliness and operational standards.

Train and coach bar team members on NBC's service, beverage, cleanliness, and operational standards.

Ensure team members understand and consistently follow established bar procedures.

Provide ongoing feedback and hold team members accountable for their responsibilities and performance.

Lead by example and support a positive, professional, and team-oriented environment.

Support the team in learning and consistently executing new beverage offerings.

Bar Resources & Systems

Maintain and keep current bar resources, including:

Recipe cards

Inventory and tracking sheets

Wine maps

Opening and closing checklists

Weekly cleaning task lists

Train the team on the proper use of these resources and ensure they are used consistently and accurately.

Identify opportunities to improve bar systems, organization, and efficiency.

Skills & Requirements:

Strong bartending and beverage knowledge
