Healthcare Cook Patient Service

Position: Healthcare Cook Patient Meal Service
Location: Port McNeill

Prepare patient meals using roasting, frying, grilling, steaming, poaching, boiling, and baking skills in Vancouver Island Health Authority facilities. Casual work supports kitchen and patient areas.
As a Cook I, you work under a Manager or designate within the Vancouver Island Health Authority. The position supports patient safety and quality improvement through food preparation, tray setup, meal delivery, dishwashing, and cleaning. Effective communication and physical ability are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare food using roasting, frying, grilling, and steaming
Prepare food through poaching, boiling, and baking
Set up trays and portion out food
Deliver, collect, and unload meal service wagons
Operate dishwashing equipment and perform cleaning duties
Requirements:
Complete a recognized 12-month cooking program
Have equivalent education, training, and experience
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Deal effectively with others
Possess physical ability to perform position duties
Apply cooking, meal service, communication, and cleaning skills as a Cook I supporting patient safety at VIHA.
