Intent of the process

Positions are temporary from 2 weeks to 6 months. A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar term, casual or seasonal indeterminate positions at full or part-time hours in various locations within the Stock Assessment Program in the Fraser and Interior Area.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications).

In order to be screened into the process, please clearly demonstrate how you meet the following education and experience criteria

Education

  • Secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives; a satisfactory score on the PSC test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Experience:

  • Experience operating and maintaining field equipment such as boats, motors, vehicles, inflatable rafts, seine nets and biological sampling and mechanical equipment.
  • Experience conducting stock assessments of anadromous salmonids.

Depending on the position being staffed, any of the asset qualifications may also be deemed as an essential qualification and only candidates and persons with a priority entitlement who possess those qualifications will be considered for that specific vacancy.   • Education:

    Successful completion of post secondary training in fisheries or other relevant biological or natural resource science(s).
  • Experience:

    Significant
    * experience in conducting stock assessments of Fraser River salmonids
  • Recent
    ** experience in conducting stock assessments of Fraser River salmonids
  • Experience directing technical support personnel
  • Experience working in remote locations
  • Experience in the application of acoustic enumeration techniques for assessment of Pacific salmonids
  • Experience analyzing data and preparing summary reports using MS Excel, Access and Word
