Young-Davidson Mine

The Young-Davidson Mine is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada’s largest underground gold mines. Located near Matachewan, Ontario—centrally positioned between Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay, and Sudbury—the site is a cornerstone asset for Alamos Gold. Exploration Geologist

Role Overview

As an Exploration Geologist
, reporting to the Senior Exploration Geologists, you will support and execute a wide range of geological activities associated with near-mine and regional exploration programs at the Young-Davidson Mine. You will play a key role in data collection, interpretation, and geological modeling, contributing to exploration planning and results that support the long-term success of the operation.

Key Responsibilities

Geological Data Collection & Interpretation: Collect, organize, and interpret geological data from exploration programs including diamond drilling, surface sampling, field mapping, and re-logging of historic drill core.

Logging & Sampling Standards: Ensure best practices are followed for drill core logging, sampling, QA/QC procedures, and database management.

Exploration

Collaboration:

Work closely with senior geologists to interpret geological information, support exploration plans, and execute work programs.

Geological Modeling: Participate in geological modeling and interpretation at the deposit and regional scale.

Health, Safety & Environment: Uphold strong safety, environmental, and operational standards and actively contribute to a culture of safety and accountability.

Reporting & Communication: Assist with technical reporting and communicate interpretation results to senior leadership and management.

Additional Duties: Support regional exploration activities and perform other related duties as assigned.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Earth Science.
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Geologist in Training (GIT) or Professional Geologist (P.Geo).
  • Recent graduate up to 5 years of experience in mineral exploration.
  • Strong understanding of geological principles, mineralogy, structural geology, and gold deposit models.
  • Experience logging diamond drill core.
  • Self-motivated with strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, environmental responsibility, and community engagement.
  • Experience with Leapfrog, ArcGIS, and SQL databases considered an asset.

  • Rotational schedule: 14 days on / 14 days off

  • Ability to work in core sheds, field environments, and mine-related settings
  • Capable of handling core boxes and conducting active fieldwork

  • Pay/shift range: $80,600 CAD - $128,750 CAD
