About the Role Reporting to the Public Works Supervisor, the Electrician performs skilled electrical work involving installation, maintenance, repair, and upgrading of electrical systems across District facilities, buildings, pump stations, and critical municipal infrastructure. This position involves independent work, collaboration with other trades, and a strong focus on safety and regulatory compliance. Work may be completed indoors and outdoors, in varying weather conditions, and at heights or confined spaces.
Qualifications Grade 12 or equivalent.
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a safe driving record.
Valid Class A FSR or willing to obtain.
Valid BC or Interprovincial Red Seal Electrician Trade Certification (including Canadian Interprovincial Qualification (Red Seal) in the Trade of Electrician, BC Trade Qualification in Electrical Work (construction or industrial), or BC Exemption Permit in the Trade of Electrician (EWX)).
Minimum of two years (3,600 hours) relevant electrical work experience under the Canadian Electrical Code after receiving a Certificate of Qualification in the trade of Electrician.
Proof of completion of a recognized electrical course in the application of electrical codes and standards from a recognized training provider or instructor completed within three years of application date.
Minimum of three documented high voltage installations since obtaining the trade certificate (H.V. training course may be considered).
Minimum two (2) years experience as a journeyman electrician, preferably in municipal, industrial, or commercial settings.
Knowledge of high/low voltage systems, pump controls, generators, PLCs, VFDs, alarms, and related electrical equipment.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and relevant safety regulations.
Ability to work in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.

Work schedule:
Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.
Competitive compensation: $44.92/hour, increasing to $49.90/hour after probation, as per CUPE/DTR Collective Agreement.
Vacation and benefits after completing the probationary period as per the CUPE/DTR Collective Agreement.
