Assistant Utility Operator

The Waterworks Section is seeking an Assistant Utility Operator for hands‑on physical work assisting the Utility Operators with the installation and repair of the Water system. The Assistant Utility Operator will further assist with live tapping of water mains as well as work on the potable water system and understands and follows best management practices to maintain water quality.

Grade 12 or equivalent; EOCP O.I.T. (Operator in Training) Certification for Water Distribution is an asset

Six months of pipe fitting experience in water and wastewater systems

Traffic Control Certificate

Occupational First Aid Level I Certification

Annual renewal for Driver’s Abstract

May work in close proximity or in actual contact with raw sewage and have sufficient physical strength, stamina and coordination to permit performance of heavy manual work in all types of weather

Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

The successful candidates will work Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (40 hours per week). As a component of the selection process, testing will be conducted. Although we thank all applicants for applying, only those under consideration will be contacted.

This is a C.U.P.E. Local 2011 position with a wage of $35.72 per hour (2026 rates) plus an excellent benefits package.
