About the role
Reporting to the Supervisor, Maintenance, the Crane Operator is responsible for safely operating the Crane to provide operational support in an open pit coal mine by relocating and repositioning equipment and materials. This is a permanent position.

Successful candidates will have excellent interpersonal and communications skills. This person will excel within a fast paced, flexible work environment that interacts with a variety of trades.

The position is site-based at our operations in the Elk Valley, and the ability to reliably commute to or relocate near Sparwood, B.C is necessary.

In this role you will

Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures

Setup crane for lifting including mobilizing and stabilizing, calculating crane capacities, determining load weights and drafting lift plans

Operate conventional and hydraulic mobile Cranes, up to 300 ton, to lift, move, position or place equipment and materials

Ability to perform various types of rigging to efficiently complete minor to complex jobs

Perform routine maintenance work, such as cleaning and lubricating cranes

Requirements

Valid Interprovincial Red Seal Mobile Crane Operator Certification

Preference will be given to applicants holding a Mobile Crane Operator Hydraulic 300 ton and Under Certificate

Applicants require a Class 5 Driver’s License, Class 3 or Class 1 Driver's License would be considered an asset

Candidate must be willing to satisfy pre‑employment drug screening and reference checks
