The Opportunity: Barminco Mining Services Canada Ltd. Is seeking an experienced UNDERGROUND Heavy Duty Mechanic with strong Auto Electrician skillsto join our maintenance team at the Red Chris Mine in northern British Columbia. This role is best suited to a mechanically qualified tradesperson who also possesses advanced electrical diagnostic capability, particularly in electrical-over-hydraulic systems used in mobile mining equipment. Working a FIFO rotation of 14-shifts on and 14-shifts off.
Reporting to the Maintenance Foreman or designate, the UNDERGROUND HD Mechanic will play a key role in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex electrical and electro-hydraulic systems to support all areas of the underground and surface equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Demonstrate commitment to following all Mine site safety rules, procedures and regulations, while ensuring the safety of othersTroubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mining equipment and ancillary equipment, including light vehicles as requiredDiagnose and repair complex electrical faults on heavy mobile equipmentInterpret and work from advanced electrical and electronic schematicsTroubleshoot and maintain electrical-over-hydraulic systemsPerform electrical testing, fault finding, and system validationMaintain and repair wiring harnesses, sensors, solenoids, controllers, and ECU systemsWork on CANBus systems and electronic control modulesCollaborate with mechanical and operational teams to resolve recurring issuesEnsure projects are carried out in a timely, cost efficient and meticulous mannerPerform preventative maintenance inspections and services in accordance with the maintenance schedule and/or based on operational requirementsDocument reports detailing work performed, problems diagnosed, pre & post checks and all other required shift paperworkMaintain and demonstrate a professional and courteous relationship with employees, subcontractors, the client and all other personnelPractice good general housekeeping in the work area and equipmentUnderstand and comply with all PPE requirements in work areasOther duties may be assigned by your Supervisor, as requiredSkills and Experience:
Minimum High School Diploma or equivalencyJourneyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic CertificationPreferred; 3-5 years of experience working underground as a Heavy-Duty MechanicProven auto electrical troubleshooting experience in a heavy equipment or mining environment, preferredStrong understanding of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, manuals and blueprintsDemonstrated experience with electrical-over-hydraulic systemsAbility to diagnose faults using diagnostic software and electrical test equipmentMust possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License; manual transmission experience requiredTypical equipment;
Sandvik jumbo(s), scoop(s) and haul truck(s), Volvo/Cat front end loaders/telehandler & grader.
