Public Works Labo Employer: Village of St-Pierre-Jolys Location: St-Pierre-Jolys Final date to receive applications: October 5, 2026

• Perform road maintenance, inspections, and repairs to potholes, curbs, and sidewalks.
• Sweep and remove debris from roads and complete snow and ice removal, including manual shovelling.
• Maintain parks and recreation areas, including the splash pad, camping area, ball diamonds, and soccer field.
• Perform maintenance of sanitary and storm sewers and routine maintenance procedures.
• Maintain the cemetery and support the general beautification of Village properties through grass cutting, weeding, planting, pruning, and seasonal decorating.
• Clean up litter, empty trash cans, and install signage as directed.
• Operate Village-owned vehicles and equipment, including pickup trucks, skid steer, grader, street sweeper, dump trucks, salt spreaders, handi-van, and mowers, as required.
• Operate power tools and equipment, including wood chippers, chainsaws, welders, and air compressors, when required.
• Inspect, maintain, and repair equipment, roads, curbs, sidewalks, municipal buildings, the Public Works garage and yard, and park facilities.
• Perform routine lagoon maintenance and testing and monitor the water lift station.
• Perform other job-related duties as needed.

• Ability to perform heavy manual labour, including lifting heavy objects and working in all weather conditions.
• Follow required safety procedures and practices and wear appropriate safety equipment.
• Maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and the public.
• Have Air Brake Endorsement or willing to obtain.
• Be available for emergency callouts, including snowfall, floods, downed trees, and sewer backups.
• Knowledge of a variety of semi-skilled and skilled maintenance tasks.

Technical

Skills:

Knowledge of basic machinery, equipment, and vehicle operation and repair, with an understanding of cost effectiveness and responsible labour and equipment use.

Skills:

Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with the public, staff, and council members, and to present ideas and improvements cooperatively.
