Full Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Coating, Priming, and Spraying Machine Operator to set up, operate, and tend spraying or rolling machines used to coat wood products with lacquer, stain, or sealer. This role plays a critical part in product quality and finish consistency and requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to independently troubleshoot equipment and process issues.
The ideal candidate will also have the ability to create stain colors from customer-provided samples
, ensuring accurate color matching and finish quality.
- Set up, operate, and tend spraying or rolling machines for wood coating processes
- Prepare surfaces for finishing and inspect finished products for quality and consistency
- Mix ingredients and create specific finishes, including custom stain color matching from samples
- Load, feed, and remove materials and products from production equipment
- Monitor equipment operation to ensure proper functioning and defect-free output
- Adjust equipment controls, material flow, and oven or heating temperatures as required
- Mount attachments, tools, and connect supply lines to production equipment
- Measure and verify materials used in production processes
- Operate hoists or other lifting and moving equipment
- Clean production equipment and work areas following safety requirements
- Dispose of trash and waste materials properly
- Follow all safety procedures, including no use of compressed air for floor cleaning due to fire and explosion hazards (OSHA combustible dust standards)
- Ability to create stain colors from customer-provided samples
- Minimum of five (5) years of related coating, spraying, or finishing experience
- Strong mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including setup, operation, and maintenance
- Ability to read indicators, gauges, and machine controls
- Experience monitoring quality and performing inspections
- Excellent hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and control precision
