Our Christchurch Green space unit is looking for a dedicated Mower Operator to join the team out of Hurunui!

13th August, 2026

Delta is your smart thinking infrastructure specialist. We construct, manage and maintain essential energy and environmental infrastructure. Every day we make a difference in the lives of New Zealanders. We make communities better for people to live, work and play in - keeping the lights on, the trees trimmed and the parks green.

We currently have a vacancy for a permanent Mower Operator working across the Hurunui District. The role involves maintaining parks and reserves through push mowing, spraying, weed eating, basic mechanical maintenance of plant, and other general grounds-maintenance duties.

Applicants with experience operating large push mowers, spraying equipment and weed eaters are preferred, although training will be provided. As the work is based throughout the district, someone living in or near Hanmer Springs, Waiau, Rotherham or Culverden would be well placed for the role.

What You’ll bring:
  • Class 1 driver's licence
  • Experience operating John Deer mowers or similar machinery, preferably in a contract environment
  • A Wheels endorsement (or willingness to obtain – we’ll provide training!)
  • Familiarity with weed trimmers and other small plant equipment
  • Basic mechanical know-how
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality work that meets contract standards
  • A strong focus on health and safety, and a courteous approach with the public
  • The ability to work independently and manage your time effectively
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and operational needs
  • Great teamwork and communication skills
