The State University of New York ( SUNY ) College at Canton invites qualified applicants for a Full-time, Economics/Finance Assistant Professor position in the Business Department beginning September 1, 2026. This position is focused on Economics and Finance to meet the needs of an ever-changing global economic landscape. Salary: $65,000 – $70,000.

The college is located in Canton, a village in the St. Lawrence River valley of northern New York. Located 20 miles from the St. Lawrence River and the Adirondack Park, and 70 miles from Ottawa, Ontario, Canton offers outdoor and cultural opportunities. SUNY Canton is a member of the Associated Colleges, a consortium of four colleges.
Responsibilities- Delivering and developing a variety of Economics and Finance (and other business) courses in face-to-face, online, and hybrid (flex) formats.
- Advising students enrolled in the Business Department majors, guiding them through academic and career pathways.
- Contributing to the strategic initiatives of the Business Department.
- Actively participating in faculty governance and other university service activities.
- Engaging with local businesses, entrepreneurs, and community organizations to create partnerships that benefit students and enhance their learning experiences.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Economics or Finance or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three or more years of teaching at the college level.
- Managerial experience working in corporate finance or economic setting.
- Experience working in or with a Financial Trading Lab in an academic setting.
- Experience mentoring people in the field of finance and/or economics.
- Experience building relationships with corporate and industry partners.
