Middle & Upper School LibrarianAt The Walker School, the library is more than a place to find books. It is a space where curiosity is sparked, ideas are exchanged, and students feel a deep sense of belonging.
We are seeking an energetic, student centered Middle & Upper School Librarian to join our academic community beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. This role is central to nurturing a vibrant reading culture, strengthening research and information literacy skills, and supporting faculty in dynamic, inquiry based teaching across grades 6–12.
Why This Role MattersBowden Library serves as both an academic and social hub for Walker students. The Librarian plays a vital role in shaping an environment that is welcoming, collaborative, and intellectually alive. From helping a sixth grader discover a love of reading, to guiding upper school students through sophisticated research projects, this position sits at the heart of Walker’s academic mission.
What You Will Do- Create an inclusive, engaging library environment that encourages collaboration, connection, and curiosity
- Partner with Middle and Upper School faculty to integrate research, media literacy, and technology into classroom projects
- Curate and manage a dynamic print and digital collection that reflects student interests and curricular needs
- Design programming that promotes reading, research skills, and information literacy, including opportunities before or after school
- Supervise students in the library and manage circulation and daily operations
- Steward the library budget and recommend resources aligned with instructional goals
- Build partnerships with local and university libraries in the metro Atlanta area
- Contribute to the broader life of the school through coaching or sponsoring student organizations, if desired
