MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree or higher in Special Education, Behavior Analysis, Clinical Psychology, Experimental/Behavioral Psychology, or a related field. Valid Georgia Educator Certificate in assigned teaching field as required by the Professional Standards Commission. Certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) preferred. Two or more years of experience working with children in an area of behavioral analysis to include writing, training and evaluating academic and behavioral programming and expert knowledge of numerous data collection methods.

GOAL

Develop and assist with implementation of specialized behavior intervention plans in consultations with district and school level personnel in the area of behavior management for students with behaviors disorders such as those commonly associated with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD), or other developmental disabilities.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Act as a resource in the development and implementation of specialized behavior intervention plans to teachers, staff and administrators for students with severe behavioral challenges primarily in the resource or self-contained classroom setting.
  • Provide specialized training in classroom organization and management, academic and behavioral programming, utilizing established principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), for teachers of students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD), and other developmental disabilities, from pre‑K through high school.
  • Provide training to teachers, staff and administrators on evidence‑based practices in behavior management, ASD and EBD, to include direct modeling of specific strategies while working with the student(s) in the classroom setting.
  • Provide trainings and on‑going staff development in the area of ABA, including discrete trial intervention.
  • Provide trainings in the administration of assessment measures such as the ABLLS‑R and AFLS.
  • Serve as a District resource in developing policies, procedures and forms necessary to support students with ASD and EBD.
  • Assist in the development of alternative interventions for students involved in offenses resulting in multiple suspensions.
  • Attend meetings/observations with ABA therapists.
  • Ensure compliance of the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) Professional and Ethical Code for Behavior Analysts.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, faculty and administrators, to ensure an integrated approach that promotes student success.
  • Provide student specific consultation as requested by central office administrators, in conjunction with teachers and school administrators.
  • Review and advise on outside BCBA evaluations and Attend any observations and/or meetings where an outside BCBA or BCaBA is attending.
  • Collect data on support provided to teachers and students.
  • Conduct trainings for staff regarding data collection for students with behavior needs.
  • Participate in Central Office planning and support meetings.
  • Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), including Functional Analyses (FA) on students as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with staff to create, implement and monitor individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), making on‑going adjustments as needed to ensure student success.
  • Work collaboratively and supportively with parents, teachers and administrators to ensure appropriate home‑school communication and a consistent approach to behavior management.
