Reports To: Head Start Curriculum Director

Evaluation Instrument: PEI

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
  • Knowledge of local community resources.
  • Experience working with preschoolers, including those with special needs.
  • Awareness of cultural and linguistic diversity of the children and families.
  • Computer skills: word processing, spreadsheets, email, internet.
  • Supervisory/management experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle access.
  • Successful criminal background check and drug screening.
Goal

Ensure that all aspects of education and early childhood development services meet or exceed funding agency and governing agency requirements, and provide coaching and technical assistance to all classroom staff.

Representative

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Center Director and staff to plan and implement program objectives.
  • Assist in hiring and evaluating classroom staff performance.
  • Assist staff in designing conducive learning environments.
  • Encourage staff to pursue AS/BS degrees.
  • Provide training/coaching and develop parent training programs.
  • Monitor and analyze classroom data to enhance child outcomes.
  • Ensure timely completion of education documentation.
  • Serve as a model/coach for children, parents, staff, and community.
  • Support parent-child relationships and educate parents as lifelong educators.
  • Conduct monthly communities of practice for staff.
  • Network with child care professionals to share best practices.
  • Observe teaching staff and recommend improvements.
  • Review daily and weekly schedules and lesson plans.
  • Assist in smooth transition of children/families to next setting.
  • Maintain safe, clean, organized, and attractive classroom environments.
  • Maintain safety, cleanliness, and maintenance of facilities and equipment.
  • Purchase developmentally appropriate materials.
  • Plan with staff to meet individual child needs.
  • Coordinate services for children with special needs.
  • Develop and distribute newsletters.
  • Recruit enrollees and volunteers.
  • Advocate for children and families.
  • Attend required meetings.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Assist in integration of all service delivery areas.
  • Assist in evaluating the service delivery system.
  • Participate in training, securing a minimum of 15 hours/year.
  • Follow attendance and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain CLASS observer reliability and Georgia approved trainer status.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
