MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree or higher in Special Education or related field. Master's degree preferred. Certification as required by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. Five years of teaching in a special education area. Working knowledge of Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Georgia State regulations; strong organizational skills; strong communication and interpersonal skills. Extensive knowledge of the software application to support the use of the IEP system functionality and processes.

Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position.

GOAL

Promote efficient utilization of the special education documentation and management system and ensure timely data reporting.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work collaboratively with special education leaders, CCSD staff and the software application team to support the use of the IEP system within the district.
  • Collaborate with technology services regarding assignments of program rights or access assistance.
  • Build and run specified reports for district staff and local school staff.
  • Collaborate with district special education leadership to determine changes and updates to the application program.
  • Create, revise and maintain training materials, as appropriate.
  • Manage updates to related special education documents in the student information system.
  • Assist with IEP system trouble shooting issues.
  • Manage reported IEP system and respond to Help Desk tickets.
  • Collaborate with Technology Division regarding Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) procedures and train Special Education Facilitators to adhere to the FTE procedures.
  • Review and report special education data (e.g. Least Restrictive Environment (LRE), Georgia Department of Education Parent Survey, Preschool Exit, Post-Secondary Survey, Timelines).
  • Provide targeted training and professional development for district and school staff, driven by data analysis and identified needs.
  • Coordinate with the Transportation Department to ensure special education transportation requests are being processed electronically through the IEP system.
  • Provide and monitor reports to ensure IEP progress reports on goals and objectives are generated quarterly.
  • Provide Revocation Prior Written Notice (PWN) upon request, manage and maintain Revocation log.
  • Develop formal PWNs as applicable.
  • Assist in conducting IEP/Compliance audits for each school site.
  • Manage and update CCSD Special Education Guidance document annually and as needed throughout school year.
  • Collaborate and participate in district office planning and support meetings.
  • Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position.
  • Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable and punctual manner.
  • Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to the assignment.
  • Maintain professional knowledge regarding current best practices in general and special education pertinent to the assigned school.
  • Ensure adherence to safety procedures.
  • Follow federal and state laws, as well as Board policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
