Position SummaryThe Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates and proposals for engineered equipment and system solutions. This role works closely with sales, engineering, and vendors to develop pricing, ensure technical alignment, and support successful project acquisition.
Key Duties And Essential Functions- Analyze project, product, or service requirements and specifications to understand the scope and identify cost elements.
- Conduct thorough research and gather data on materials, labor, equipment, and other resources required for the project.
- Collaborate with internal teams, such as inside sales, procurement, and project management, to gather necessary information for cost estimation.
- Utilize cost estimation software and tools to calculate and prepare accurate cost estimates.
- Evaluate historical data, industry trends, and market conditions to determine cost factors and adjust estimates accordingly.
- Identify potential risks and uncertainties impacting project costs and incorporate contingency plans into estimates.
- Prepare a comprehensive cost breakdown, including labor, materials, equipment, vendors, and overheads.
- Review and analyze supplier and vendor quotes to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
- Present cost estimates to management and stakeholders, providing clear explanations and justifications for the proposed cost.
- Monitor and track actual project costs and compare them to estimated costs, identifying any discrepancies and analyzing the reasons behind them.

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in engineering, construction, or related field.
- 2+ years of estimating or technical sales experience.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to interpret technical documents and specifications.
- Experience in water/wastewater or industrial equipment.
- Familiarity with ERP/CRM systems.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Standard office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is minimal.
