Backup & Disaster Recovery Specialist
Location:
City of Canton, Georgia
Work Authorization: US Citizen
Security Clearance / Suitability- No federal clearance required
- Must pass City of Canton background check
- Must comply with City cybersecurity, backup, and disaster recovery policies
- Must maintain confidentiality of City data and systems
Manages backup operations, disaster recovery planning, and restore testing for all covered systems.
Mandatory Requirements- Backups must occur every 8 hours minimum
- Must define RTO and RPO
- Must conduct annual restore testing
- Must define retention periods
- Manage backup schedules and retention policies
- Monitor backup success/failure
- Perform annual restore tests and document results
- Ensure near‑real‑time incremental backups where possible
- Support disaster recovery planning and execution
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field
- Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE)
- Azure Administrator (AZ‑104)
- CompTIA Server+ or Cloud+
- 8+ years of experience in backup administration, disaster recovery, or business continuity
- Experience with Veeam
, Azure
, and on‑premises backup systems - Experience defining RTO/RPO
, retention policies, and performing restore testing - Experience supporting municipal or enterprise environments preferred
