Shift

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized high quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders and are supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the Wellstar Values.

It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, it is expected that the individual upholds the voice of the patient, system policies and procedures while supporting service excellence goals.

Responsibilities
  • Performs the Nursing Process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) in the performance of clinical care using evidence-based practice, uses analytical and critical thinking, ensures care is individualized, and coordinates care through effective partnerships recognizing that caring is central to achieving optimal patient care outcomes.
  • Provides relationship‑based, patient‑centered care consistent with population‑specific characteristics (e.g., age, gender, disease) and adapts service delivery to reflect an understanding of cultural diversity.
  • Conducts bedside shift reports, keeping the patient and significant others updated and making the patient’s goals the focus of the plan of care.
  • Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care that promotes the professional care delivery model. Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner and promoting the recruitment and retention of all health‑care team members.
  • Participates and supports performance improvement, inclusive of all stakeholders, research and research utilization to promote safe, high‑quality patient care, including initiating and/or leading such activities, promoting interdisciplinary processes, and actively supporting/shared governance at all system levels.
  • Serves as a preceptor and/or mentor for other professional nurses (and staff or students across all disciplines) to ensure a current and future qualified workforce, modeling professional nursing practice and creating a healthy work environment.
  • Promotes evidence‑based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement. Participates in activities such as value analysis as part of decision‑making in evaluating patient care products.
  • Upholds all health‑care system/organizational policies, procedures, and clinical competencies put forth by this job description and professional associations, including legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements and standards, e.g., TJC Patient Safety Goals and Wellstar Health Systems’ safety absolutes.
  • Participates in data collection, poses relevant clinical questions to advanced evidence‑based practice, and proactively plans for the care of patients across the care continuum while providing direct patient care.
  • Participates in the development of protocols and procedures when called upon or through self‑initiation in collaboration with care managers and other health‑care team members to achieve best‑practice outcomes, supporting efficient and effective use of human and material resources.
  • Complies with all Well Star Health System policies, standards of work, and the code of conduct.
Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing or graduation from an accredited/approved school of nursing – Required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing – Preferred.
  • Less than 1 year of completion of an accredited/approved school of nursing with requisite clinical hours – Required.
  • Direct patient care experience – Preferred.
  • Registered Nurse (Single State) – Required.
  • RN – Multi‑state Compact – Required.
