Part-Time Academic and Support Counselor

The Part-Time Academic and Support Counselor provides academic, behavioral, and mental health services to students in grades 6–12. The position delivers Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 support within the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework and serves as a consistent trusted adult through a structured mentor program. This role supports the District and school-based initiatives focused on student attendance, engagement, behavioral health/well-being, and removal of barriers to learning in alignment with grant requirements.

The Part-Time Academic and Support Counselor:

  • Provides direct mental and behavioral health services at Tier 1 (universal), Tier 2 (targeted/small group), and Tier 3 (intensive/individualized), including crisis intervention as appropriate.
  • Serves as a mentor for identified students.
  • Monitors attendance, academic performance, and behavioral data to inform intervention planning.
  • Develops and implements individualized academic and behavioral support plans.
  • Coordinates tutoring, academic interventions, and credit recovery support as needed.
  • Addresses truancy concerns and assists in removing non-academic barriers to learning.
  • Collaborates with administrators, counselors, social workers, teachers, and other staff to implement structured support.
  • Engages parents/guardians in the intervention process in accordance with district policies and procedures.
  • Provides case management services and referrals to appropriate community agencies.
  • Utilizes research-based and evidence-informed practices in service delivery.
  • Maintains documentation and data required for grant compliance, program evaluation, and District/state reporting.
  • Participates in professional learning, required meetings, and ongoing training related to the role.
  • Ensures compliance with federal and state laws, ethical standards, Board policies, and grant requirements.
  • Maintains regular, predictable attendance and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Completes all job assignments in a timely, accurate, and professional fashion.
  • Possesses and maintains valid and appropriate license, certificate, and/or credential as may be required for this position.
  • Reviews current developments, literature, and technical source information related to job responsibilities.
  • Ensures adherence to appropriate safety procedures.
  • Performs other duties as allowable by Program.
