Job Description

The Head Coach will assume responsibilities for all aspects of an NCCAA Division I Program. This includes but is not limited to: recruitment of prospective student-attathletes, student-athlete development, game preparation and strategy, supervision of staff, scheduling, purchasing of equipment and supplies, community involvement, alumni and public relations, fundraising, adherence to Paine College and National Collegiate Christian Athletics Association rules and regulations and administrative duties.

The Head Coach will also be responsible for working with athletics and university staff to support the philosophy, goals and mission of both Paine College and the Athletics Program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Reports directly to the Director of Athletics; manages and directs all aspects of a NCCAA Division I Program.
  • Commitment to Department of Athletics and College's academic goals and academic success of volleyball student-athletes, teaching strategies, recruiting, fiscal management, fundraising, organizational and administrative leadership, and public relations.
  • Coordinates the development and promotion of the teams.
  • Represents Paine College and its Athletics Program in a professional manner.
  • Adheres to the budgetary and fiscal policies of the College that includes maintaining operational and scholarship expenditures within budget limits.
  • Organizes and conducts practice sessions.
  • Enhances professional growth by attending clinics, professional workshops, meetings, etc.
  • Works with the Sports Information Director in regard to news releases, stats, and other team-related information.
  • Completes all NCCAA eligibility forms, transfer forms, etc., as required by NCCAA.
  • Informs student-athletes of program and Department of Athletics expectations. Supervises the conduct of the student-athletes on trips and during competition.
  • Assists in fundraising for respective sports programs and within the Athletics Department as a whole.
  • Acts as host for visiting teams.
  • Assists in all phases of student-athletes mentoring and evaluation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required;
    Master's preferred.
  • Successful coaching, recruiting and/or playing experience at the collegiate level.
  • Working knowledge of NCCAA Division I rules and interpretations.
  • Proven leadership in coaching responsibilities to include: sport strategies, fundamentals, recruiting, fiscal management, fundraising, organizational and administrative leadership and public relations.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
  • Successful applicants will demonstrate commitment to the academic goals of the College and to the academic success of the student-athletes.
  • Successful applicant must be of good moral character with conduct consistent with the College and state code-of-conduct.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the College's evaluation instrument for faculty/staff.
