Summary

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is a highly specialized health care professional responsible for preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals to diagnose and treat various medical conditions. They operate advanced imaging equipment, monitor patient safety, and ensure compliance with radiation safety standards while collaborating with healthcare teams to deliver accurate and effective diagnostic results.

Required Qualifications
  • One year’s experience as a Nuclear Medicine Tech.
  • Current Nuclear Medicine Technologist/Radiography license in compliance with state regulations.
  • Current BLS Certification (AHA/ARC).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current ARRT or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT).
  • Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position.
Essential Work Functions
  • Educate patients about nuclear medicine procedures and address questions.
  • Maintain and inspect nuclear medicine equipment for proper functioning, reporting any malfunctions and ensuring compliance with radiation safety standards.
  • Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals and other medications to patients according to established protocols and safety standards.
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions to radioactive drugs or other administered medications, intervening as necessary to ensure their safety.
  • Operate medical imaging equipment to create images of organs or areas of the body according to physician orders.
  • Document procedure details in patient records to ensure continuity of care and compliance with regulations.
  • Follow hospital safety rules and policies and radiation safety procedures to minimize exposure to radioactive materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of Nuclear Medicine Technologist practice.
Required Essential Skills
  • Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills.
  • The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.
  • Ability to read/write written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills.
  • Physical Abilities – Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend.
  • Interpersonal Skills – Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel to present a positive attitude and professionalism.
  • Technical/Motor Skills – Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.
  • Mental Requirements – Must be able to cope with frequent contact with general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure, work under close supervision occasionally, and maintain concentration to detail.
  • Sensory – Must possess visual acuity and ability to communicate effectively.

Employment Information

Job . Pay package is based on 8-hour shifts and 40 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
