The Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technician (MLS/MLT) performs various moderate to high complexity laboratory testing requiring a degree of skill commensurate with education, training and technical abilities. Conducts routine, urgent, and STAT tests for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease and performs related duties following established standards and practices under College of American Pathology (CAP). Contributes to a safe environment for patients, providers, and staff while ensuring validity and accuracy of test results.
The MLS/MLT receives day-to-day guidance from the department section supervisors and reports to the Laboratory Administrative Director with oversight from the Laboratory Medical Director.
- Bachelor's Degree in Science in Chemical, Physical, Biological, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, which includes coursework meeting the requirements for ASCP or AMT certification. (New grads must provide degree/transcripts within twelve (12) weeks of hire.)
- Medical Laboratory Scientist (AMT) within 1 year or Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP) within 1 year or Medical Technologist (AMT) within 1 year or Medical Technologist (ASCP) within 1 year.
- One year of full-time clinical laboratory experience needed to acquire AMT or ACSP certification or completion of a Medical Sciences program.
- Current certification is verified upon hire. MLS or MLT (ASCP) continuing education is applicable per ASCP/AMT.

The pay grade assigned to this position is 3000; compensation information will be discussed further upon interview selection.
