Job Mission

The Junior Purchaser supports the procurement team by assisting in sourcing, ordering, and tracking materials and components required for manufacturing and distribution operations. This entry‑level role is designed to provide hands‑on experience in supply chain and purchasing functions, ensuring timely and cost‑effective procurement aligned with production and inventory needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in sourcing and procuring raw materials, components, and services based on production schedules and inventory levels
  • Create and track purchase orders to ensure timely delivery and accurate pricing
  • Communicate with suppliers to confirm order status, resolve discrepancies, and follow up on late or missing items
  • Maintain accurate procurement data in ERP systems, including lead times, pricing, and part specifications
  • Support inventory control through cycle counts and stock level monitoring
  • Collaborate with planning, production, and engineering teams to align procurement with operational needs
  • Assist in identifying potential suppliers and gathering quotes for new or existing parts
  • Participate in cost‑saving initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procurement procedures
Skills and Qualifications
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain, Business, or related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
  • 1–2 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain in a manufacturing or distribution environment
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Basic understanding of purchasing processes, inventory control, and ERP systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
  • Team‑oriented with a proactive and detail‑focused approach
  • Experience with Global Shop ERP system or similar
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and supply chain best practices
  • Background in negotiating contracts or managing supplier agreements
  • Familiarity with domestic and international sourcing
  • Experience supporting build‑to‑order or custom manufacturing environments
  • APICS or supply chain certification is a plus (e.g., CPIM, CSCP)
Key Interfaces
  • Reports to the Operations Manager
  • Collaborates with Fulfilment, Quality, and Production teams
  • Works closely with Planning, Fulfilment, and Customer Service teams
  • Interfaces with Engineering and Quality teams for product and process improvements
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • May require standing or walking for extended periods (4–6 hours)
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Work is performed in an office and warehouse environment
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels and warehouse conditions
