Managing Consultant
The Managing Consultant is responsible for strategically consulting on their own block of business while also leading client service efforts and staff to ensure client retention and overall satisfaction. They oversee strategy, financial analysis, benefit design, plan renewals, benchmarking, and overall service delivery.
Responsibilities- Communicates One Digital’s value proposition and industry trends to active clients; mentors and trains staff on client relationship development and consulting techniques.
- Oversees workloads and workflows to ensure deliverables are met or exceeded.
- Grows the book through cross‑selling opportunities.
- Oversees onboarding of new clients by collaborating with client service teams to establish implementation plans, teams, and timelines.
- Builds strong, productive relationships with clients, partners, and leadership teams.
- Establishes effective carrier/vendor relationships to serve clients in benefits procurement and administration.
- Attends carrier events to remain up to date and maintain strong relationships.
- Leverages national and local resources for operational efficiencies.
- Develops sophisticated benefit design and renewal strategies; drives solution development for complex client issues.
- Works closely with account management or client service teams on pre‑renewal strategy, RFP distribution, SPRs, open enrollment strategy, and post‑renewal analysis.
- Determines the full scope of services to be provided to clients.
- Clearly establishes and communicates timelines with client service teams, keeping them apprised of changes and updates.
- Maintains accountability for revenue and profitability for client accounts and projects.
- Maintains a full understanding of insurance markets, funding alternatives, networks, and benefit plan options.
- Ensures accuracy of client data in CRM.
- Remains knowledgeable on compliance issues governed by legislation and regulations impacting employer‑sponsored health and welfare plans such as HIPAA, ERISA, Tax Code SEC 125, PPACA, and state health insurance exchanges.
- Identifies and resolves employee relations and operational issues efficiently.
- Builds and fosters a positive workplace culture.
- Acts as mentor to staff to assist in resolving client issues and developing solutions.
- Monitors success of projects in scope, budget, timeliness, and client satisfaction.
- Ensures client service teams exceed client expectations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, combined with professionalism and discretion.
- In‑depth knowledge of the insurance business.
- Ability to work with clients and partners at a strategic level.
- Ability to influence and effectively interact with members of the C‑suite.

- 3+ years in benefits consulting (preferred 5+).
- 3+ years managing and developing staff (preferred 5+).
- Practical knowledge of quoting process and tools.
- Current life and health insurance license.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft suite products and database applications.
- Advanced knowledge of health, ancillary, and alternative funding products.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge on Health Care Reform.
The typical base pay range for this role nationwide is $175,000 to $200,000 per year. Your base pay is dependent upon your skills, education, qualifications, professional experience, and location. Additionally, some roles are eligible for variable compensation, commission, and/or annual bonus based on your individual performance and/or the company’s performance.
