Construction Superintendent - Full-Time Employment
Location: Canton, MA or Worcester, MA (Fully Onsite)
Salary: $ USD Annually - $ USD Annually
What You'll Build (Responsibilities)- Lead weekly coordination meetings with subcontractor foremen to review project progress, manpower requirements, work sequencing, inspections, site logistics, and trade coordination. Distribute and communicate three-week look-ahead schedules to all stakeholders.
- Manage, monitor, and maintain project schedules, proactively identifying potential delays, risks, and performance issues. Escalate concerns promptly and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Complete daily field reports documenting manpower, weather conditions, project activities, site progress, and material deliveries.
- Administer and enforce the company safety program, ensuring compliance with all safety policies, procedures, reporting requirements, and incident investigations.
- Ensure all subcontractors adhere to jobsite safety standards while maintaining a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
- Prepare and manage Requests for Information (RFIs) to address design clarifications, plan discrepancies, incomplete details, and other issues requiring direction from architects or engineers.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure labor, equipment, and materials are available and delivered according to project schedules.
- Resolve field issues efficiently by making timely, informed decisions and taking ownership of project outcomes.
- Coordinate and schedule all required inspections with local, state, and regulatory authorities having jurisdiction over the project.
- Oversee quality control efforts to ensure all work complies with construction documents, project specifications, and company quality standards.
- Lead, motivate, and support field personnel and subcontractors while effectively delegating responsibilities and holding team members accountable for performance.
- Verify the quality and quantity of materials, equipment, and supplies received on-site.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to both client satisfaction and company values.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and municipal officials.
- Coordinate owner-contracted vendors and subcontractors to ensure seamless integration with project activities and successful project delivery.
- Maintain organized project records, including submittals, RFIs, drawing logs, bulletins, sketches, work scopes, and as-built documentation.
- Drive punch list completion and project closeout activities to ensure a positive client experience and successful project turnover.
- Partner with the Project Manager and subcontractors to coordinate utility relocations, new utility services, and related infrastructure requirements to support project milestones.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial construction management, superintendent, or field leadership roles.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and related project documents.
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction methods, building materials, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proven ability to coordinate multiple project activities simultaneously and resolve complex field challenges.
- Working knowledge of architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings and systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build productive relationships with clients, project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel.
- Experience leading teams, managing resources, and driving successful project execution.
- OSHA 10 certification required; OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- Valid Construction Supervisor License (CSL) required.
- OSHA 30 certification.
