Boston Speech Therapy is excited to announce an opening for a highly skilled Teacher of the Deaf to enrich the lives of our students. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide specialized education to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring they have access to quality instruction and support in their learning journey.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct individualized assessments and create tailored educational plans (IEPs) aimed at fostering student success
  • Employ innovative teaching methodologies to enhance communication and learning for students
  • Develop skills in both signed communication and auditory methods to cater to diverse student needs
  • Collaborate with families, educational staff, and specialists to devise comprehensive support strategies
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, making necessary adjustments to instructional strategies
  • Establish a nurturing learning environment that encourages student confidence and independence
  • Potentially engage with students ranging from preschool to young adults
  • Manage a caseload of approximately 5 to 8 hours of teaching weekly
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Education of the Deaf or relevant field;
    Master's degree preferred
  • Active state certification in Teaching the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
  • Demonstrated experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiar with auditory-verbal techniques
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills with a focus on collaborative practices
  • Dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment
  • Competence in designing and adapting instructional materials for diverse learning styles
