The Hansen Elementary School is seeking an exceptional and dynamic candidate to serve as a first‑grade teacher to fill a teacher leave from March through the end of the school year in June

The Hansen Elementary School is an inclusive community for all students and staff and serves over 450 students in grades kindergarten through five. The school is elevating the educational experience for our students by cultivating a culture and climate that promotes academic growth and social‑emotional learning for every student, and ensures high‑quality teaching and learning through the purposeful design of rigorous and equitable student experiences.

JOB SUMMARY
Teachers provide a well‑organized, academically challenging, culturally and linguistically responsive classroom environment in which students can access curriculum and make progress towards Massachusetts standards and develop social and emotional skills in order to participate in society, while providing a safe, supportive, and welcoming educational environment for all students.
Performance Responsibilities- Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences that meet the needs of all learners.
- Develop lesson plans that align with the state standards and district‑determined high quality instructional curricula and are culturally and linguistically responsive.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
- Continuously engage in reflective practice regarding curricula, instruction, and culturally responsive practices.
- Create a culturally and linguistically responsive classroom environment.
- Build strong relationships with students to create a culture of belonging.
- Prepare the classroom for class activities.
- Incorporate a variety of culturally and linguistically responsive learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
- Identify, select, and implement differentiated instructional resources and methods to meet students’ varying needs based on data.
- Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment aligned to the District approved curriculum and/or Massachusetts State Standards.
- Use relevant technology to support instruction.
- Follow and implement individual student safety plans, IEPs, 504s, health care plans, behavior support plans, etc.
- Observe and evaluate students’ performance and development using data; use data to drive decisions and adapt instruction, assessments, and assignments as appropriate.
- Provide appropriate feedback on assessments and/or student work.
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students using data.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress, development, and attendance as appropriate.
- Support the social and emotional well‑being of students during the school day.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom and school by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures in accordance with the student handbook.
- Participate in department and school meetings, parent/guardian meetings.
- Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents/guardians regarding student progress and student needs.
- Keep up to date with developments in subject area, teaching resources, and methods, and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities.
