Job Description The Hansen Elementary School is seeking a 0.8 Team Chair. This educational leader will be committed to promoting equity, a sense of belonging, and fostering academic and personal success for all students. We are a school of over 500 students in grades K‑5.
The Team Chair is an integral member of our leadership team and will contribute greatly to our student experiences, staff development, and the advancement of our special education programming. The Team Chair reports directly to the Director of Student Services and building Principal, and is a member of the Luce leadership team as well as the Student Services district team.
Performance Responsibilities
Lead the special education referral process to include Child Find requirements and the utilization/implementation of MTSS interventions.Initiate and coordinate the team evaluation process according to special education regulations, ensuring a thorough evaluation in all areas of suspected disability and adherence to required timelines.Schedule and chair special education team meetings; determine eligibility and develop individualized educational plans in accordance with mandated requirements. Act as liaison between parents, school team members, and agencies regarding special education services, using problem‑solving strategies to resolve differences of opinion.Supervise implementation of Individualized IEPs, including service delivery, access to school‑based resources, accommodations, and student services. Monitor student progress, conduct annual reviews, three‑year reevaluations, transition planning, and the 688 referral process. Document rejected IEPs and notify BSEA.Assist in the supervision and evaluation of Educational Assistants and facilitate professional development sessions for these staff members.Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services and building Principal to ensure best practices for our students and advance our special education services, aligned with core values and strategic frameworks of Canton Public Schools.Qualifications
- Must hold a valid and current MA certification in special education, school psychology, or administration.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residence, or work visa required.
Compensation
$80,000 – $90,000 (0.8 FTE) plus generous benefit package.
