Canton Wellness Department and JFK Elementary are seeking an exceptional and dynamic candidate to serve as the Elementary Health Educator at JFK Elementary for the school year and beyond beginning on August 31, 2026. The chosen candidate will join a vibrant and supportive team that places a high priority on collaboration, creativity, flexibility, and commitment to the goals of the District and to our students, families, and staff.

Our Wellness Department strives to maintain an inclusive community for all students and staff and serves over 500 students grades K-5. The Wellness Department is elevating the educational experience for our students by cultivating a school culture and climate that promotes academic growth and social-emotional learning for every student, and ensures high-quality teaching and learning through the purposeful design of rigorous and equitable student experiences.

We are eager to find the next member of our team who collaborates with other educators to create the conditions necessary so that every student experiences the true joy of learning, the excitement of achievement, discovers areas of passion, and experiences an authentic sense of belonging in their school.

JOB SUMMARY: Canton Wellness Department and JFK teachers provide a well-organized, academically challenging, culturally and linguistically responsive learning environment in which students can access the curriculum, make progress toward Massachusetts and National standards, and develop social and emotional skills to participate in society, while also providing a safe, supportive, and welcoming educational environment for all students

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences to meet the needs of all learners

2. Develop lesson plans that align with the state standards and district-determined high quality instructional practices

3. Create a culturally and linguistically responsive classroom environment

4. Identify, select, and implement differentiated instructional resources and methods to meet students’ varying needs based on relevant data

5. Follow and implement individual student safety plans, IEPs, 504s, health care plans, behavior support plans etc.

6. Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress, achievement, and attendance

7. Manage student behavior in the classroom and school by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures in accordance with the student handbook

8. Participate in department and faculty meetings, parent/guardian meetings, and professional development opportunities.

9. Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents/guardians regarding student progress and student needs

10. Performs other duties specifically articulated within the collective bargaining agreement as assigned by the building principal and/or District administration

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Maintain Valid Massachusetts DESE teacher certification in Health and Family/Consumer Sciences (all levels)

2. Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.

3. Highly Qualified per Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)

4. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the school department may find appropriate and acceptable

COMPENSATION: Per the Unit A Collective Bargaining Agreement here.
