About the Role
We’re looking for a Substation Commissioning Manager of Renewable Energy on behalf of our client. This is a 1‑year contract assignment (W‑2). You will work on behalf of the project owner as a Commissioning Manager on a portfolio of renewable energy projects (wind, solar, battery storage). You will be responsible for the execution of assigned renewable power plant projects and teams as it relates to commissioning, start‑up, and operational turnover.
You will report to the Project Manager / Commissioning Director.
Location:
Will start in Missouri or North Dakota and moving across other projects in the US.
Per diem available.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure commissioning activities for assigned projects are performed with high quality and follow all safety policies.
- Responsible for coordination and management of EPC contractor personnel, OEM start‑up personnel, third‑party start‑up contractors, and operations personnel on site, as it relates to site commissioning and startup.
- Responsible for project reliability at operational turnover with plants exhibiting as little lost time in initial operation.
- Responsible for compliance with all project contractual documents, including Power Purchase Agreement and Large Generator Interconnect Agreement deliverables with local utility.
- Ensure interface is made with Transmission Operators and Independent Service Operators to ensure project energization dates are achieved.
- Manage client’s onsite commissioning personnel.
- Interface with project’s designated safety, engineering, and quality control parties.
- Progress reporting.
- Manage third parties, suppliers, and direct report team members.
- Schedule and planning understanding.
- Electrical construction and commissioning means and methods knowledge including NEC and NFPA.
- Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) integration and troubleshooting.
- E&I controls and instrumentation installation, startup, and troubleshooting.
- Protection and Controls implementation and troubleshooting.
- Drawing review quality control inspection.
- 5+ years experience in on‑site project support for renewable power generation project construction, start‑up and commissioning.
- 3+ years experience minimum working for an EPC in renewable power generation project construction, start‑up and commissioning.
Base salary range for this position is estimated at $114.00/hr. to $119.00/hr.
