Description
Design the infrastructure that keeps industries and communities running. We are seeking a Senior Design Engineer with strong expertise in the design and structural analysis of supports for mechanical piping systems, and general engineering support for our clients in the construction industry. In this role, you develop engineered solutions for projects such as water and wastewater treatment plants, power generation facilities, and process utility systems.
You will be responsible for producing accurate designs—applying advanced tools such as structural analysis, 2D/3D modeling, and FEA (Finite Element Analysis) to ensure structural integrity, performance, and compliance with industry codes. This position offers a unique opportunity to combine hands‑on design work with client collaboration, project leadership, and mentorship of junior engineers, along with direct support of fabrication.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering (preferred). EIT or PE credentials ideal.
- 3–5+ years of experience in design engineering. Must prepare engineered drawings for submittal and fabrication in conformance with project specifications. Strong communication skills with clients to arrive at an ideal design solution.
- Expertise in structural analysis of frames and supports using the AISC code, with the ability to evaluate welded and bolted connections.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Inventor, BIM software (REVIT/Navisworks), Microsoft Excel, and Mathcad.
- Experience with Pipe Stress Analysis software using Autopipe is ideal.
- Ability to use FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and 3D modeling software to evaluate structural components. Structural design experience with Bentley’s RAM, Dlubal RFEM, and Idea Statica ideal.
- Familiarity with AISC Steel Construction Manual, ASCE, ACI 318, ASME B31, AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code, MSS‑SP‑58 and designing in conformance with project specifications.
