Product:
Minimally-invasive GI Endoscopy instruments & implants for soft-tissue applications. The product combines Polymers/Plastics, Nitinol and other materials.
Leadership Team & Board:
The original founding team is still in place, and they have launched and exited multiple companies in the past. They have multiple strategic investors in place, with several heavy-hitter industry professionals on their board.
Medical Device experience is preferred, however they consider experience from other industries as well.
Job Overview:
The Senior Technician / Machinist is a full-time position. This person is part of the R&D Engineering team and is responsible for the fabrication and assembly of components & fixtures as well as mechanical testing of prototypes and maintenance of lab/shop equipment.
Job Description:
- Operate a CNC mill & lathe to fabricate complex parts for prototype surgical equipment and test fixtures
- Interpret 2D drawings and be able to provide additive input on part design, fabrication and tolerancing schemes, etc.
- Safely operate machine shop equipment and ensure the safety of others working in the area
- Read, understand and follow procedures for set up and execution of test methods
- Contribute to the prototype design & brainstorming process
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace
Minimum Qualifications ,
Education and Experience
Required:
- 4-8+ years of experience in fixture and prototype development
- Hands-on prototype fabrication experience including the ability to operate a CNC mill, CNC lathe, G-code programming
- Proficiency with precision grinders, laser welders, EDM machining
- Experience with set up and operation of standard test equipment; tensile test stands with load cells, hand-held force gauges, etc.
- Experience with product development & testing within a quality system
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with medical devices or other regulated environment, preferably in a small, fast-paced startup environment
- Familiarity with rapid prototyping processes; 3D printing, casting, etc
- Experience with design, fabrication & debugging of electro-mechanical test systems
- Proficiency with Solid Works or similar CAD program
Physical Requirements:
- This job requires standing at a machine or lab bench for prolonged periods
- This job may require some repetitive motions
- This job may require lifting of objects weighing up to 50lbs
- Ear and eye protection may be necessary for any given task
Reports To: Director of Engineering, or other more senior engineering staff
This is an On-Site position, 5 days/week in office
Local Candidates strongly preferred
