About the role:
Location is near Abilene, TX
We are looking for a Construction Manager (Substation & Transmission) on behalf of our client. This is a 1-year contract assignment. (W-2) The Construction Manager (CM) serves as the field leader responsible for the safe, efficient, and successful execution of substation and transmission construction projects. Being the primary liaison between field activities and the General Manager, the CM ensures adherence to engineering design, contract requirements, environmental regulations, safety standards, and project schedules.
You will have 20% office responsibilities and 80% field oversight.

1-year contract assignment. (W-2)
Key Responsibilities:Review and understand all contract documents, Review contractor Safety Plan; coordinate with Safety team. Conduct kickoff meetings and orientations. Understand permits, agreements, drawings, schedules, QA/QC, submittals. Set expectations and train the team.
Identify county, town, site. Determine greenfield or brownfield. Assess access and constraints.
Review drawings, specs, engineering packages. Define structures, equipment, systems. Identify demolition needs. Align with engineering documents.
Ensure schedule adherence. Monitor milestones and project planning. Escalate delays.
Compare drawings with EOR BOM. Confirm material delivery and storage. Verify nameplates/specs. Track shortages and damages.
Confirm permits. Ensure SWPPP and environmental compliance. Coordinate crossing approvals.
Enforce HASP, Encourage proactive safety culture, and Conduct daily safety meetings.
Ensure compliance with specifications, Conduct daily walkdowns, and Document progress.
Collect own data. Submit weekly reports and trackers. Manage team reporting.
Track variances. Review invoices. Identify cost drivers.
Ensure compliance with contract. Address non-conformances.
Maintain contractor relationships. Communicate with PM. Direct public inquiries.
Use environmental, safety, Subject Matter Expert, and land teams.
Minimum Expectations

- Substation/industrial construction experience.
- Strong understanding of drawings.
- Knowledge of safety/environmental requirements.
- Proficiency with Computer
