The Lead Financial Planning Analyst serves as the key administrative expense support person to a subset of all enterprise functional areas. Total administrative cost for these areas is $700M+ and includes Operations, Information Technology, Health Care Services, Chief Medical Office, Chief People Officer, Finance and Legal. The position will report to the Senior Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis and provide business partner support and analysis.
Assist with the annual expense planning and forecasting activities for corporate shared service functional administrative costs. Execute monthly close activities and conduct monthly expense reviews with leadership and act as the Finance partner for all financial matters.
Key Responsibilities /Duties – what you will be doing (top five):
- Budget Management
- Execute the forecast and annual budgeting process and continually assess for areas of enhancement
- Manage monthly budgets in order to conduct monthly expense reviews with leadership
- Build out monthly budgets to include cost drivers to drive a more accurate allocation that reflects business reality
- Identify and track monthly expense accrual and coordinate with AP (Accounts Payable) and the accounting team
- Assist with verification of cost reduction initiatives
- Document financial processes
- COO (Chief Operating Officer) Support Model
- Serve as the primary financial contact for the areas of responsibility
- Create and distribute VP/ Director level budget to actual reporting
- Monthly financial review meetings with key Directors and VPs
- Assist in creating financial views for Monthly Business Reviews with COO
- Itemize, budget and track budget and actuals for all critical vendors
- Provide input as COO defines new operating metrics
- Financial Analysis
- Assist with ad hoc financial analysis projects as assigned
- Types of projects may include (membership shifts, system consolidation, impacts of automation, etc.)
- Support Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis through Regulatory reporting and benchmarking exercises
- Service Excellence

- Partner with Finance team and business partners to achieve results. Act as one team to ensure work is completed. Always ask how you can help with a constant focus on proactive behavior. Treat business partners as clients with a focus on returning phone calls and emails timely, setting up meetings to discuss critical topics, sharing processes before executing and allowing ample time to review draft documents.
Err on the side of over communicating. - Demonstrate an understanding of business operations with the goal of becoming the spokesperson for your areas of responsibility.
- Constructively challenge decisions and processes to ensure optimal decision making and performance. Focus on identifying process efficiencies, improving message, and enabling ease of understanding.
- Other projects and duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business - required
- Advanced degree preferred (MBA or Masters) - preferred
- Professional license (e.g., CPA, CIA, etc.) - preferred
- Healthcare Industry Experience;
Preferably Healthcare Insurance experience. - Minimum 6-8 years related business experience with finance, operations and process understanding required.
- Proficient in budget management and techniques
- Proficient in using financial systems (e.g., Oracle, Hyperion) and modelling tools
- Advanced Excel skills
- Ability to manage to deadlines and shifting priorities
- Project management and organizational skills
- Ability to implement new processes (comfortable working in white space)
- Analytical
