Role Description

The HGI Canton is looking for a dynamic General Manager to provide our team with the leadership to exceed all guest and financial objectives.

The HGI Canton is searching for a General Manager. This hotel, which opened in 2020, has 138 guest rooms, a full-service restaurant and meeting/event space. The hotel is a top performer in its comp set and is located along the busy route 93/95 corridor right outside the city of Boston.

The right candidate will provide leadership for the hospitality team to maximize the financial performance of the hotel and food and beverage outlets by delivering memorable guest service experiences, an outstanding product offering and supporting a positive work environment for all team members that results in always exceeding our guests’ expectations.

Responsibilities

Exceed room revenue, food and beverage revenue and other revenue outlet targets by month and year-to-date.

Assist with the development and execute all plan objectives to meet budgeted top line revenue for both room revenue, food and beverage and other revenue outlets.

Work with the sales/marketing team to execute, monitor and manage a comprehensive sales and marketing program that results in maximizing the revenue opportunity for all profit centers at the hotel.

Supervise and manage the performance of all hotel departments to exceed all profitability objectives of the hotel.

Build and lead a cohesive team with unified goals to exceed guest expectations and achieve company product and service performance standards.

Manage and control all operating expense line items and operating expenditures within budget.

Monitor and report monthly on all Key Result Areas and provide analysis to support the corrective actions to close operational gaps to meet operating objectives.

Implement and manage internal training and monitoring processes to ensure guest service scores and first-class condition ratings exceed all measurable performance standards for the company and the Hilton brand.

Participate in the development of the annual budget and business planning process for all hotel profit centers.

Be actively involved in the community in a leadership role.

Be the driver with an entrepreneurial spirit that creates engaged hotel operating teams to exceed all operating targets.

Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor every day.

Manage the employee development process for the hotel teams and continually coach and develop direct reports to continuously improve performance.

Qualifications

Requirements include having a minimum of three years’ Full‑Service Hotel General Manager experience, with food and beverage experience.

Experience with the Hilton brand is a plus.

Must have a solid record of profit and loss responsibility and proof of managing to exceed objectives. Must have the analytical ability to identify gaps and create action plans to close gaps to achieve House Profit/ Flow Through goals as detailed in the operating budget.

Must have a strong and verifiable background in maintaining a hotel property in first class condition, overseeing the maintenance department and housekeeping to achieve high operating product standards within budget guidelines.

Must have a verifiable record of community active involvement.

Must have a working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in motivating and developing staff
  • Expertise in hotel operations, including budgeting, financial analysis, and business planning
  • Proficiency in hospitality management systems, compliance with industry regulations, and brand standards
  • Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience as a General Manager or in a senior management role within the hospitality industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred
  • Proven ability to manage guest satisfaction, operational efficiency, and staff performance
  • Experience with hotel renovation or new construction projects is an advantage
