Laboratory Chemist – UL Solutions – Canton, MA
UL Solutions, a global leader in applied safety science, seeks a Laboratory Chemist to join our team in Canton, MA.
Responsibilities- Follow defined test plans and datasheets with necessary supervision/support; evaluate test performance and data, record and explain test results, and complete test reports.
- Serve as Lead for simple test programs as assigned, communicating project status and results as needed; define test plans and ensure accurate and timely report completion.
- Examine customer samples, operate appropriate tests, communicate with internal customers during setup and operation to ensure proper evaluation.
- Direct, build and/or adapt simple test setups, sample preparations, solutions, and instruments to new situations based on test plans; train other lab staff on these procedures or instruments.
- Operate and maintain test instruments; perform maintenance on designated instruments and laboratory area.
- Integrate basic process and instrument improvements; communicate suggestions for new instruments, processes, and forms to improve accuracy and efficiencies.
- Understand and follow safe chemical hygiene practices.
- Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct, and follow all physical and digital security practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma from an accredited university in Chemistry or related discipline (Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Organic/Inorganic Chemistry, Materials Science, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining high quality and exceptional customer service.
- Demonstrated ability to partner with Engineering and other laboratory personnel to complete projects in a timely manner with high quality.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze special testing needs.
- Effective communication skills and ability to interact with customers.
- Demonstrated ability to be innovative and creative.
- Desire to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to incorporate automation into day-to-day testing.
The estimated salary range for this position is $52,900 to $58,000. The position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 5% of the base salary. Full-time employees receive health benefits (medical, dental, vision), wellness benefits (mental and financial health), retirement savings (401(k) commensurate with location), and paid time off (15 vacation days, 12 floating holidays, 72 hours sick time).
