Position SummarySR1 CPSA is seeking a dynamic, outcomes‑driven Chair of College Preparatory & STEM Academics (K–5) to serve as the chief instructional architect for mathematics, scientific reasoning, and school wide STEM integration
. This leader strengthens core instruction, builds coherent systems, and designs signature learning experiences that make SR1 CPSA a recognized model for elementary STEM and college‑prep excellence.

This is a start‑up, high‑growth school. This is not a maintenance role— this position requires ownership, urgency, follow‑through, and daily presence.
Reports to: Provost (Principal)
Board/Central Office Engagement: Provides updates/presentations as requested; collaborates closely on strategy and reporting.
Supervises (as applicable): Instructional staff and assigned program staff
Key collaborators: Dean of Students & Culture, Director of Operations, College/Career Readiness Leads, Educational Technology Team, MTSS/Intervention Leads, and external partners
Core Responsibilities- Serve on the Academic/School Leadership Team; participate in academic and school wide decision‑making and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to instructional strategy, scheduling priorities, professional learning, and signature events.
- Lead/co‑lead cross‑functional teams to execute priorities with excellence.
- Bring solutions and recommendations grounded in data, classroom evidence, and student work.
- Set and monitor rigorous expectations school wide, with emphasis on math and science.
- Strengthen lesson design, measurable proficiency, academic language, and writing connected to STEM learning.
- Conduct learning walks/observations and coaching cycles; contribute to evaluation aligned to SR1 CPSA expectations.
- Align curriculum, pacing, assessments, and materials with grade‑level teams and content leads.
- Lead school wide excellence in math (conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and reasoning/argumentation).
- Strengthen science through inquiry, labs, and claims‑evidence‑reasoning; integrate age‑appropriate engineering design.
- Build “reasoning across the curriculum” so logic and problem‑solving develop in every grade.
- Develop and calibrate common performance tasks/assessments that measure application and reasoning.
- Infuse STEM practices into ELA, social studies, arts, and enrichment through interdisciplinary units and PBL.
- Partner with teachers to integrate computational thinking, data literacy, and technology tools that deepen learning.
- Ensure every student participates in meaningful STEM experiences each quarter (projects, labs, design challenges, maker tasks).
