Commissioning Engineer, AWS Data Center Commissioning

Overview

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. The team supports all AWS data centers and their servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment, ensuring continuous customer access to the innovation they rely on.

• Support vendors, contractors, and other teams in the construction and commissioning of various systems including medium and low voltage power systems, generators, UPS, HVAC (Air Handlers / Exhaust Fans / VFD), chilled water systems, building management systems (BMS), electrical power monitoring systems (EPMS), testing and balancing, pumps, and hydronic systems.

• Ability and willingness to travel domestic and internationally for up to 80% of the year.
• U.S. Citizenship required.

Provide testing and validation oversight of AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure, review design documents and equipment submittals, lead Factory Witness Testing (FWT), manage third‑party commissioning vendors in onsite pre‑functional, functional, and integrated systems testing. Own projects’ successes, resolve technical issues, address schedule impacts, coordinate demands onsite, share lessons learned, and provide multi‑discipline input into scheduling, test script development, design, and planning.

Audit vendors for compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements. Report commissioning progress and metrics to the Regional Commissioning Manager. Lead multiple projects to achieve milestones, deliver data center capacity, and manage project budgets as approved.

• 5+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning experience of electrical and mechanical systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

• Professional Engineer License.
• Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production.
• Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.

The base salary range for this position is $ – $ USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
