Electrical Field Engineer , Field Engineering; AWS

As an Amazon Critical Infrastructure Engineer, you will provide full life‑cycle support to AWS data centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance. You will be the "go‑to" engineering resource for your region when technical advice is needed, and will use your subject‑matter expertise to engage with diverse teams across operations, design, hardware, environmental health and safety, and security to promote standards that maintain consistency, reliability, and sustainability in services delivered.

• Conduct troubleshooting, root cause analysis (RCA), and create corrective action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failures.
• Support operational issues with ad‑hoc training, complex operating procedure reviews, and event support, especially for critical equipment.
• Own the conceptual design for existing data center upgrades and design‑solutions that add capacity, improve availability, increase efficiency, and enhance sustainability.
• Interface with internal data center operations, design engineering, server hardware, and environmental health and safety teams to promote consistent and reliable service standards.
• Develop innovative solutions for AWS data centers.
• Work on concurrent projects, sometimes across multiple geographical regions.
• Initiate and lead engineering audits, including on‑site visits within Amazon data centers, and produce reports outlining risks with recommended mitigations and remediations.
• Act as resident engineer during new construction projects, supporting construction, commissioning, and turnover.

• Strong engineering judgement and the ability to provide recommendations despite uncertainty or ambiguity.
• Detail‑oriented and data‑driven mindset.
• Experience solving complex problems with engineered solutions.
• Experience managing engineering projects and contractors or consultants.
• Ability to build trust and relationships with diverse stakeholders such as Operations, Controls, Construction, Design, Commissioning, Product Managers, and Technical Program Managers.
• Adaptability and willingness to work in the field to see things up close.
• Excitement for a mix of office and field work.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• NETA or ASHRAE certification or commissioning‑specific education courses.
• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission‑critical facilities, especially data centers.

• Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
• Knowledge of commercial or industrial power systems or mechanical systems.
• Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
• Experience using a variety of web‑based and other software tools for calculation and data processing.

Base salary range: 86,900.00 –  USD annually (USA, MS, Canton). Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
