This position involves leading teams in hardware and network diagnostics followed by physical repair, and includes participation in an on‑call rotation. Candidates must work independently and manage their teams effectively, prioritizing work, organizing tasks, communicating clearly, and reacting quickly. In addition to strong knowledge in Data Centers, hardware, and network repair, the role requires creating documentation, innovating solutions, participating in site‑level projects, and fixing complex problems within the Data Center Space.
The team operates 24/7, and the role will work night shift schedule subject to adjustment to meet operational demands.
- Prioritize and assign trouble tickets to data center technicians and operators
- Manage the performance of a diverse team of data center operation professionals across different locations
- Develop career paths for employees and update internal tools accordingly
- Recruit and train data technicians to ensure appropriate staffing levels
- Ensure effective and efficient day‑to‑day data center operations, including queue management, 24/7 shift arrangement, and hardware logistics
- Act as the subject matter expert across all aspects of data center operations and fast‑learn new areas
- Ensure all operational KPIs and metrics are measured and met
- Inspire and guide improvement in team processes, technology innovation, and automation
- Lead large‑scale events (outages) and manage their resolution
- Improve workflows and throughput for data center operations
- Recommend, document, and oversee policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and required SLAs
- Maintain the on‑call schedule, coordinating absences and vacations
- Strive to improve customer experience through quality and quantity of services provided
The position ensures overall availability and reliability of data center operations, meeting or exceeding defined service levels. The role supports AWS’s mission to keep our infrastructure reliable and scalable.
Basic Qualifications- 2+ years of data center engineering or operations experience
- 2+ years of experience managing people in a technical environment
- 2+ years of computer hardware experience, including troubleshooting and repair
- Experience in technical writing relevant to the field
- Relevant certifications (CCENT, Network+, CCNA)
- Behavioral interviewing and hiring experience
- Ability to work on a flexible schedule, including days, nights, and/or weekends
The base salary range for this position is $70,700.00 – $ USD annually. Compensation also includes sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs), with final totals based on experience, qualifications, and location.
