Job :  | Amazon Data Services, Inc.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

Our team is growing and we are looking to hire a motivated Network Deployment Project Lead to join our growing Infrastructure Delivery team. The role encompasses end‑to‑end ownership of medium to large‑scale data center cabling deployments including migrations, new sites, and new regions.

Our ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working autonomously, is detail oriented, possesses strong written and verbal communication skills, and is competent in all aspects of installation and troubleshooting of networking hardware, software, and fiber connectivity. This position requires working with minimum supervision to develop innovative ways to automate and scale our data center deployments as we expand.

Responsibilities
  • Initial cabling planning, installation, validation, and quality assessment.
  • Engaging external contractors including newly onboarded cabling vendors.
  • Planning and working with a wide range of project stakeholders to determine device and cabling requirements, schedule resources to meet project timelines, engage external vendors, and provide continuous status reporting.
  • Installation of, racking and stacking networking devices, running and patching fiber cabling, and configuring devices using automation tools and the command line interface.
  • Validation, device troubleshooting, and stress testing prior to capacity delivery.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% including some local and international assignments throughout AMER.
Basic Qualifications
  • 1+ years of computer networking experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Experience in computer networking
  • Experience working with Linux operating systems
  • Can lift and rack equipment up to 40 pounds
  • Experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair
  • Knowledge of network design, protocols, and troubleshooting
Preferred Qualifications
  • Can work in cramped spaces or in elevated locations while adhering to health & safety guidelines
  • Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure
  • Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system
  • Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies
  • Experience working in a data center environment (racking and stacking gear, cable management, hot/cold aisle containment)
