Trades ​/ Skilled Labor Operator, Heavy Equipment Operator

• Operate equipment and cranes, including tower cranes, mobile cranes, overhead cranes, forklifts, reach lifts, excavators, skid steers, boom lifts, and site-specific machinery, to move heavy materials
• Perform daily inspections, basic maintenance, and routine maintenance; report mechanical issues
• Support crews in setting and moving pipe, valves, equipment, and structural components
• Assist with excavation, grading, back filling, and trenching for piping and mechanical installations
• Follow safety procedures, load limits, OSHA guidelines, lockout/tagout procedures, and hazard-control measures
• Interpret load charts, blueprints, construction drawings, site maps, layouts, specifications, and work orders
• Communicate with ground personnel, signalers, team members, supervisors, and equipment operators using verbal instructions, radios, and hand signals
• Secure loads using slings, hooks, chains, and other rigging equipment
• Coordinate with construction and logistics teams
• Maintain accurate equipment-use, inspection, and fuel logs
• Support general labor and material-handling tasks when equipment operation is not required
• Perform physically demanding field work in outdoor and industrial environments
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, mechanical engineering or equivalent field experience
• 2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in construction; mechanical or piping projects preferred
• Strong understanding of piping systems, plumbing codes, mechanical equipment, and construction practices
• Proficiency with construction drawings, specifications, and related documents
• Ability to read and follow site maps, layouts, and supervisor instructions
• Experience with project management software, Procore, Bluebeam, Revit, and other project management software
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in the field and adapt to changing site conditions
• OSHA 30 certification and strong safety awareness and knowledge of OSHA requirements
• Ability to work at heights, around moving equipment, in confined or restricted spaces, and in dynamic, noisy, high-hazard environments
• Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment up to 50 lbs frequently
• Ability to use required PPE and safely operate hand and power tools
• Ability to follow safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and hazard-control measures
• Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to identify hazards, read instructions, and communicate in high-noise environments

Demonstrates expertise in operating heavy equipment, including cranes and excavators, while adhering to safety protocols and OSHA guidelines. Proficient in interpreting construction drawings and managing mechanical installations within construction and piping projects.
