Description of Duties
The State University of New York (SUNY) College at Canton invites qualified applicants for a full-time Admissions Counselor position in the Admissions Department, beginning January 15, 2026.
Responsibilities
* Recruitment of prospective students.
* Working with students and parents through all phases of recruitment from inquiry through enrollment, working as part of an admissions team to achieve enrollment goals, event management, and handling other responsibilities as assigned.
* The position requires extensive travel with overnights and a willingness to keep a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree.
* Valid driver's license.
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with potential students, families, and the counselors and teachers in the students' support network.
* Comfortable speaking in front of large groups.
* Ability to work independently and on a team.
* The successful candidate will be adaptable, detail oriented, accurate, able to learn new technology quickly, and able to gather data.
* Ability to work nights and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience traveling and working with students with multicultural backgrounds.
* A strong knowledge base of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
* Experience working with a student information system.
Prior to a final offer of employment, the selected candidate will be required to submit to a background check including, but not limited to, employment verification, educational and other credential verification, and criminal background check.
