Job DescriptionHigh School Career Development Coordinator
Term of Employment: Exempt Position; 10 months (per school year);
Part-Time
Salary: Salary placement will be determined by the NC Salary Schedule Based on License and Experience
QualificationsNC Educator License as Career Development Coordinator. This license may be added onto an existing license when possessing a Current Continuing Professional License in a CTE program area OR a Current Continuing Professional license as a School Counselor at the G level. If adding this license onto an existing license one of the following 3 options will qualify to meet the requirements for adding the CDC license (747):
- NCDPI Facilitating Career Development Course
- NC Works Training Center Facilitating Career Development Course with NCDPI New CDC Induction
- 6 semester hours of graduate coursework (counseling theory and career development) and NC DPI New CDC Induction
- Coordinate career development services to promote career awareness, exploration, and planning.
- Provide career development, occupational, labor market, non‑traditional career, and post‑secondary information.
- Assist students with selection of appropriate academic and CTE courses by creating/reviewing four‑year plans at the 10th grade level for high school and post‑secondary preparation.
- Coordinate career planning activities in classrooms, groups, or individual sessions.
- Facilitate work‑based learning opportunities.
- Provide and coordinate activities for students to develop employability skills.
- Promote the use of technology for career planning and research.
- Facilitate business, education, and community partnerships that provide opportunities for students and support CTE.
- Serve as a liaison with the business, industry, education, and military community.
- Participate in professional development activities at the local, regional, state, and national levels.
- Engage in professional growth opportunities to remain current with trends, demands, and emerging careers in a rapidly changing workforce.
