Accounting & Business Manager / Finance Director

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Leadership & Accounting
    • Own the organization's full financial operations, including general ledger, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
    • Prepare and present financial information and recommendations to executive leadership and board members.
    • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes.
    • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and organizational policies.
    • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reporting accuracy, and financial processes.
  • Grants, Compliance & Audit Management
    • Manage nonprofit and grant accounting functions.
    • Coordinate annual audits and external financial reviews.
    • Ensure compliance with grant requirements, donor restrictions, and public funding regulations.
    • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting for funding sources and regulatory agencies.
  • Program & Mortgage Accounting
    • Oversee mortgage-related accounting and servicing activities.
    • Support construction, job-cost, inventory, and program-based accounting functions.
    • Monitor financial performance across multiple programs and funding streams.
  • Team Leadership
    • Lead and develop a small accounting team responsible for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Donation Receivables, Mortgage Administration, and HR Administration Support.
    • Provide coaching, mentoring, performance management, and accountability.
    • Foster a collaborative, solutions-focused culture centered on integrity and continuous improvement.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Progressive accounting and finance leadership experience.
  • Strong understanding of transactional accounting, general ledger management, and financial reporting.
  • Experience supporting audits and financial compliance reviews.
  • Background in construction, job-cost, inventory, mortgage, nonprofit, grant, or program accounting environments.
  • Strong proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Office 365.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check.
Preferred
  • Sage 50 experience strongly preferred.
  • Nonprofit accounting experience.
  • Grant accounting and compliance knowledge.
  • Experience presenting financial information to Boards or executive leadership teams.
