Position Overview

Reliance One, Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a growing finance team in Canton, OH. This 3–6 month contract position offers the opportunity to contribute to daily accounting operations while supporting key financial initiatives, including a transition to Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365).The ideal candidate will have experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and external audit support.

This role is perfect for an accounting professional who enjoys process improvement, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is looking for an opportunity that could lead to a direct hire position.

What You'll Be Doing

Accounting Operations

  • Support daily accounting activities, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, treasury, and general ledger functions.
  • Process ACH transactions and support cash application activities.
  • Audit and process high-volume freight invoices while ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Reconcile monthly inventory receipts with purchasing records and ERP data.
  • Assist with cash flow management through collections and payment processing.

Month-End & Year-End Close

  • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Maintain supporting schedules and documentation for financial reporting.
  • Prepare documentation and schedules for external audits.
  • Validate financial and operational data for accuracy.
  • Investigate discrepancies between inventory records, operational data, and the general ledger.
  • Generate ad hoc financial reports to support management and treasury activities.
  • Improve data accuracy and strengthen internal financial controls.

ERP & Process Improvement

  • Support the implementation and transition to Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define business requirements and improve accounting processes.
  • Assist with training documentation and user adoption of new ERP functionality.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows and operational efficiencies.

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with company accounting policies, financial controls, and internal procedures.
  • Support internal and external audit activities.
  • Perform additional accounting projects and special assignments as needed.
Qualifications – What You Bring (Must Haves)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of accounting experience.
  • Experience with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
  • Experience preparing balance sheet reconciliations and accruals.
  • Experience supporting or leading external audits.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, and XLOOKUP.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications (Added Bonus)
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365).
  • Experience in manufacturing or distribution environments.
  • Strong analytical and process improvement skills.
  • Experience with inventory accounting and ERP implementations.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
