The VA is seeking a General Psychiatrist to join our Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) team at our large, well-established Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Canton, Ohio
, serving our nation’s Veterans in a supportive, collegial, and mission-driven environment.
A Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) is the VA’s team‑based model of mental health care. Psychiatrists work collaboratively with psychologists, social workers, nurses, and other mental health professionals to provide comprehensive, Veteran‑centered treatment
. The BHIP model emphasizes continuity of care, shared decision‑making, and strong clinical support
, allowing psychiatrists to practice high‑quality medicine without feeling isolated.
This position also collaborates closely with PACT (Patient Aligned Care Team), ensuring integrated, whole‑person care for Veterans.
Position Highlights- Patient‑centered practice with time to provide thoughtful care
- Average daily volume: 10–13 patients
- New patient appointments: 60 minutes
- Follow‑up visits: 30 minutes
- Protected lunch: 1 full hour
- Schedule:
Typically 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (flexible schedules considered) - Call:
- No mandatory call
- Rare (approximately once per month) evaluation call
- Low intensity and well supported
- Opportunity to teach and discuss cases with residents

- MD or DO degree from a VA‑approved medical school
