Salary: $18.95 per hour

Summary: Summit Elementary School seeks a Fully Qualified Special Education Assistant (SBH Assistant) to support students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

• Assist in active therapy programs
• Assist in physical education programs
• Assist students loading and unloading on buses
• Assist students during lunch and recreational activities
• Assist in the classroom
• Understand and maintain academic and behavioral standards set for students by the certified teacher
• Assist students as needed to fulfill their educational needs
• Maintain written records on a daily basis
• Attend in‑service training
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications (must have):

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Educational Aide Permit
• Confidentiality and honesty
• Cooperate and get along with others, and work as a member of a team

Desirable:

• Previous experience with children in a learning situation
• Ability to take directions

Highly Qualified (required): Two (2) years of college (minimum of 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours), or an Associate’s degree, or a passed Praxis Paraprofessional Assessment Exam.

Applicants must submit a copy of Praxis exam results or college transcripts to verify highly qualified status and must hold a valid Educational Aide Permit. If you do not meet these criteria, you are not eligible to apply.
